Hello and Welcome to the official website of Holiday Heroes!
My name is Isha Jog and I am a freshman at Loyola University Chicago.
I have a dream.
In the fast-paced world of today, many tend to forget the less fortunate and to be thankful for everything we have. My mission is to make every holiday a time to reach out to those in need and to create a caring community in which no one feels forgotten. Perhaps it is impossible to solve every problem we see, but by the end of 2014 there will be less hurting people on this planet we all call home.
In 2011 I decided to start my own organization called "Holiday Heroes" with a plan to organize a volunteer service project benefiting the needy for at least six holidays throughout the year.
My dream is to extend my organization all over the country, creating chapters in every single state in America. Although I live in Illinois and attend school in the city of Chicago, my vision of spreading holiday cheer is not limited by my location.

So to cover the basics...
After I started the organization in 2011, I quickly began organizing events for the upcoming holidays. Within the span of six months I put these projects together:
- Halloween: I started a "Halloween Against Hunger" canned foods drive where my friends and I collected over 100 pounds of food and 300 food items that we donated to the local food pantry.
- Christmas: My family and I traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana where we spend Christmas Eve and Day at a youth center for troubled children from broken families. We cooked and served them their Christmas meal.
- Valentine's Day: With the help of my student council I collected over 2500 handmade Valentine's Day cards and then personally handed them out to the senior citizens at Friendship Village Retirement Home.
MY GOAL
My new goal is to take "Holiday Heroes" to a whole new level! I am in the process of making it in a certifiable 501c(3) non-profit organization. My plan to have a chapter in every single state in America, to teach youth about the benefits of volunteering and serving their community.
